World Foods Co-Op Class

World Foods Co-op Class

This semester at co-op all of our teens are participating in a class focused on World Foods. We are excited to get them back in the kitchen, and this is such a fun way to do it! They are exploring foods from around the globe, and with each week’s recipe we also dig in to the country of origin.

This class could be turned into .5 credit with extra work being done outside of class. This is something that would not be coordinated by MAHC, but we wanted to give you some ideas and suggestions to help you do this at home!

For the class to reach .5 credit status, students will need to work outside of class to reach the 60 hours. Each week’s co-op class will provide a foundation for a new week of study, starting with India this week. To build on this, we have some suggestions for outside work:

  • Research the country deeper.
  • Try some cooking from country at home.
  • Make a brochure for the region.
  • Read some literature from area.
  • Design a poster with info on country.

Students are welcome to bring their “outside projects” to display for the country. This is such an awesome opportunity to see what each student decides to focus on, and we can all learn from each other! If you have any questions, please let us know in the comments below! We would love it if you would share any ideas or resources you find along the way that might help other families as well!

Finally, we will be asking for volunteers to bring supplies for this class in future weeks. Watch the announcements to see what we need along the way. Thanks for helping make this class a success!
